Camp Update 2 (Final)
We had our last practice an hour ago. It was concluded with trampoline “grand add on” contest, which was won by Maura. Later kids were divided into 6 teams to run for treasures. TJ, Jordan and 3 boys from novaks team won this race.
Below you can view skill charts for the all athletes by level. I will add more pictures to picture gallery later tonight. |
Camp Update 1
We got to the camp in West Virginia on Sunday. It rained a lot the first day, but the weather has been good since then. We had a campfire last night — cooked hot dogs and marshmallows in the fire.
I’ll be posting new photos in the picture gallery every day.
Overnight training camp in Aurora, WV
Sunday, August 2 — Arrive at the back parking lot of the gym at 8 am to load the vans (back where the tan vans are parked). Bring a packed lunch with all disposable containers. The vans will stop for lunch on the way there.
Saturday, August 8 — Pickup time will be approximately 2:30pm. For the ride home, we need some donations of disposable juice boxes, capri suns, etc. and dry snacks that do not need refrigeration. Last year they had cheese/cracker packs and granola bars. Please email Leanne if you can bring a box of something that morning. We need enough for 25, including the coaches. Three boxes of 10 drinks, plus 4 packs of individually wrapped snack items should do it. |
List of items to remember to pack:
- Workout wear for 11 practices: Leos & socks for girls; shorts, tshirt and socks for boys.
- Sneakers and clothes for running.
- Bathing suit, towel, sunscreen.
- Flip flops, crocs or sandals
- Bug spray.
- PJs
- Flashlight
- Toothpaste, toothbrush
- Hairbrush, ponytail holders, etc.
- Shampoo, soap
- Clothes to hang out in, when not practicing.
- Warm clothes, ie sweatshirt and sweatpants.
- Pillow and sleeping bag. Or sheets and blanket. It gets chilly at night so bring a warm blanket (not too bulky though because we have to fit everything in the van).
- Light jacket for rain (optional)
- Other optional items: camera, book, ipod, small games, playing cards
* Cell phones use will be allowed on the buses to and from the camp. All cell phones will be held by coaches while at camp and will be distributed at specific approved call times. Please note that phone reception is patchy and not always available.

Detailed Schedule for J.O. National Championships
Congratulations to all Fairland athletes who made it to J.O. National Championships. As all of you know, Nationals will be held in San Jose, California. If you read through this post, you will be able to find a detailed schedule for each athlete. The Number 1 or 2 in each column refers to the number assigned to the equipment, ie. Trampoline #1 or Trampoline #2. At Nationals there will be two sets of Trampolines, two Double-Mini Trampolines, and two Tumbling strips. You need to arrive at the competition arena 30 minutes before your training time and 45 minutes before your flight. If you are in the first flight you need to be there 20 minutes before the session start time. (First flight time is 15 minutes after session start time).
I will be in San Jose starting Tuesday June 23 and will be staying at the Sainte Claire Hotel, 302 South Market Street. When you arrive in San Jose, call me at 301.379.7397 to arrange pick-up of your child’s athlete pass. These are required for access to the competition areas. The athlete pass also allows your child to enter the convention center daily without paying an admission fee.
You can get more information about Nationals here.
