Saturday was another action packed, adrenaline filled day! Fairland adds 2 more Gold medals and 2 more podium finishes to its count! Kaleb started the day right by winning gold on level 8, 10 and under tumbling. Megan followed with a 6th place finish in lvl 8, 14 yr old DMT and Alysha continued by adding an 8th place finish on level 8, 13 yr old DMT.
Action then switched to the arena, where Jessica nailed her Junior Elite Trampoline finals routine to cinch the gold medal as well as a berth on the 2015-2016 Jr National Trampoline Team.
Delilah and Deana continued the streak with two awesome routines in Senior Elite Trampoline finals! It was definitely an intense competition. Athletes were not ‘taking it easy’, everyone was going for broke!
The most surprising finish of the day was Fairland’s newest competitor, Franz (Neomie’s dad)! Absolutely fabulous execution of your tuck jump. The judges each awarded you with a perfect 10.0, and your airtime was practically immeasurable-we think both feet actually left the trampoline! Unfortunately, you were not in proper Fairland attire, please see Konstantin once we get back home!
The 2015 USA Gymnastics Championships wraps up tomorrow. Addison, Lily, Kaleb, and Neomie will compete DMT, Megan – TR, and Alysha – TU. GOOD LUCK and Go Fairland!!!!

USA Gymnastics Championships – Day 3
USA Gymnastics Championships — Day 2
As expected, today was another hot one! Let’s talk snow days! Did you know . . . .even with 0 snow days, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George Counties will still be in school during the 2016 USA Gymnastics Championships? USA Gymnastics announced the 2016 USA Gymnastics Championships will be in Providence, Rhode Island from June 8 -13 (yes, we can drive). Why so early? If the US qualifies for the 2016 Olympics, the Olympic athletes will be determined at the event! But wait we can’t talk school snow days—Howard County hasn’t even been out a week! I should have went with the vocal cord cooling thoughts of Sonic milkshakes or Wendy’s Frosty’s (both very close to the venue) or Steak ‘n Shake and Dairy Queen (very close to a lot of our hotels)! It seemed like Fairland had one of the more ‘vocal’ cheering sections . . or maybe it seemed that way to me because I sat in front of the group!
Wednesday started preliminary competition for some of our level 9, 10 and open elite athletes. In order to qualify for finals competition, athletes must place in the top 8 in preliminary competition. Scores are cumulative-carrying over from prelims to finals. In finals, athletes compete in reverse order of their finish in the preliminary round: 8th place will compete 1st and the first place finisher in preliminaries will compete last. Finals for level 9 and open elites are Friday morning, level 10 finals are Friday afternoon. Full results are being posted on the competition website: www.USAGymChamps.com Great job to all the athletes who competed today! Preliminary competition continues tomorrow for levels 9, 10, open elites and junior elites. Good luck to all our athletes. Go Fairland!

USA Gymnastics Championships – Day 1
Some of our athletes and families traveled to the USA Gymnastics Championships in Greensboro, N.C. a day or two early for synchro training and/or judges and coaches certification on Monday. All athletes who are attending the USA Gymnastics Championships had training at some point on Tuesday. Notice I did say TRAINING and not warm-up because all you have to do is go outside to warm-up! I guess it is good that there is not much to do within a 1 mile walking distance of the venue because it is too hot to walk to it anyway! For anyone who likes saunas, come on down!
Tuesday also kicked off competition with synchronized trampoline. Fairland had 9 athletes competing in synchro. I know, 9 is an odd number. How do you pair an odd number? We’ll get to that!
- Sean and Miles paired up for Level 10, 17 and over men’s synchro.
- Lily and Jasmine paired up for level 10, 17 and over women’s synchro.
- Giselle and Kelsey paired up for Open Elite Women’s synchro.
- Ivanna and Deana paired up for Senior Elite Women’s synchro.
- And the odd number: Jessica paired up with Alyssa (from Technique in California) for Junior Elite Women’s synchro.
Sean/Miles and Lily/Jasmine both held on for bronze medal finishes. This is Lily’s 1st Nationals medal–yea! Ivanna/Deana finished with a bronze medal. After a major routine change during Monday’s training session, Jessica and Alyssa finished just off the podium in 4th. The highlight of the day is Kelsey/Giselle’s GOLD medal in Open Elite Women’s Synchro! To top it off, this is Giselle’s 1st Nationals medal!
Wednesday promises to be just as busy (and warm)! Miles, Addison, and Jasmine will compete in level 9 tumbling. Neomie, Lily, Addison, and Andrew will compete in trampoline. Alex, Wolfgang, Delilah, Noah, Giselle, Jasmine, and Miles will compete in double mini. Jr and Sr elites will have training in their competition venue and our level 8s will get an opportunity to have a separate practice as well. Good luck to all our athletes!
Athletes, you all got selfie sticks. Use them and take some fun pictures (I know you all have phones)! Email some pictures to me or I might have to post a picture of my cat!

Season Update
After the first meet of the year back in January, I told myself I’ll draft a post next week. How time flies! It’s been way past a week! Our athletes have had some great achievements! I would love to list them all, but we’d need an e-book not a website! Results for all meets are in the process of being posted under the results section of the website. It is great to look back and see the progress our athletes have made!
Seventeen of our compulsory level athletes kicked off 2015 with the GymCats Invitational in Martinsburg, WV. February brought about the President’s Cup in Dumfries, VA. Level 7 and up athletes then traveled to Greensboro, N.C. for the Atlantic Coast Trampoline and Tumbling Invitational. This was an exciting meet as this was the first team travel meet for several athletes! It also gave the level 8 and up athletes a chance to check out the area where Nationals will be held.
March . . how can we forget . . .The Fairland Classic! What a fun experience for all! April was about as busy as it could be! Several levels 5-9 athletes attended the Unique Invitational in Waldorf, MD. The following week was the Maryland State Championships, which Fairland is proud to have 40 State Champions (does not include synchro) and 60 National Qualifiers (34 athletes)! Three days after the State Meet, our level 10 and elite athletes traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for the Elite Challenge! What a fabulous experience that was! High level T&T on all three events, as this was the final selection event for the Pan Am Games and the first qualifier for the upcoming World Championships in Odense, Denmark.
What’s next, you ask . . . Region 6 Championships in Martinsburg, WV. The meet promises to be an excited one as approximately 590 athletes from 13 states plus the District of Columbia are registered! (Should this number be our goal for next year’s Fairland Classic?) The USA Gymnastics Championships (level 8 and up) will be June 23-28 in Greensboro, N.C. and the Level 5-7 National Championships will be Jul 16-19 in Fort Worth, TX. Go Fairland! Good Luck to all our athletes!
Good Luck in WV
Good luck to our level 5-7 athletes who are competing in the Gymcats Invitational this weekend.
Good Luck Alex!
Alex B. (also known as Alejandro) will head to the Olympic Training Site in Huntsville, Texas later next week for the Elite Development Program (EDP) International Exchange Camp and Competition. Alex is one of three 13-14 year old boys selected for the 2015 EDP Trampoline Team. Fairland’s other EDP team member, Lindsay, will not be able to attend as she is recovering from an injury. For more information on the Elite Development Program, go to www.usagym.org. Go Alex! Good Luck and have fun! We’re cheering for you!!!
Team USA / Jessica wins GOLD!
